Hello, I'm new here, and I'll get right to it. I came here following a link posted on Avatar_fans and thought it sounded like a very good idea.

I posted an entry about bending and ethics in a different community (under a different name) and I think this would be a place to share it (many of the comments are very interesting as well, so definitely read them too, since I'm not all-knowing about Avatar, they corrected me in a few locations).

I hope this in the vein of the rules and regulations.

Interesting stuff to ponder in meta and/or fanfic, since given the obvious constraints of a Nick kiddie show we are pretty unlikely to see such extreme violence dealt with in much detail in canon. (Although it does often surprise me how much dark stuff they're getting away with!)

I am reminded a bit of the rather rambling metaful discussion that took over birdsarecalling's journal here, particularly the bits on ATLA-verse medicine and the relative lack of on-screen death and gore in a world that's been at war for a century. (If you don't mind picking through various scattered conversational threads, that also spawned some meta about ethnic mixing (consensual or otherwise) in occupied territory vis a vis Iroh and Zuko's evading notice in the Earth Kingdom...
